Further stormy weather could see properties near the Wandle River affected by flooding.
South East London was lashed with heavy winds and torrential rain overnight and with more rain forecast over the next 24 hours, the environment agency is warning those near the river could be affected.
A map produced by the environment agency showing the regions in danger of flooding follows the Wandle through Merton and up into Wandsworth all the way to the Thames.
Julia Simpson, regional duty manager for the Environment Agency said: “Our teams across the region, along the east coast, and at the Thames Barrier are working tirelessly throughout this ongoing incident, operating gates and structures and checking that flood defences and barriers are in good working order.”
“People should check the Environment Agency website or follow @EnvAgencySE and #floodaware on Twitter for the latest flood outlook in the South East Region, and sign up to receive free flood warnings, taking action when they receive them.”
