A pair of Mitcham charities are set to benefit from a £57,000 grant to support vulnerable people in Merton and Sutton.

Lloyds TSB Foundation for England and Wales has awarded grants totalling £57,600 to the Commonside Community Development Trust (CCDT) and Jigsaw4U to help fund their work.

The CCDT, based in Pollards Hill, has been awarded a grant of £24,500 over two years to help fund its Step Forward Programme to give vulnerable families the skills to manage their own lives.

Naomi Martin, project manager at CCDT, said: "Demand for our services is ever increasing and with this new grant we will be able to continue this vital service and increase the number of families we can support."

Jigsaw4U has been awarded a grant of £33,100 towards its volunteer programme to support children and young people through loss, trauma and bereavement.
