Serial Wimbledon shoplifter given suspended sentence after stealing from Sheen Waitrose
A serial shoplifter who stole thousands of pounds of goods from Waitrose has been spared jail.
Michelle Lawrence, of Durnsford Road, Wimbledon, stole £200 worth of meat from the supermarket chain in Upper Richmond Road, Sheen, on July 21.
The 47-year-old returned two days later to the same supermarket and took £1,069 worth of goods. When she then tried to steal £338 of meat from a Waitrose in Cobham on August 8, she was caught.
She pleaded guilty to two counts of theft and one of attempted theft.
When she appeared at Lavender Hill Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, August 29, she was handed a sentence of 16 weeks in prison, suspended for 18 months.
