Children at a primary school in Mitcham helped to "raise some dough" for comic relief this week with their very own Great Bond Bake Off.

Every day last week pupils brought in home made cakes to enter into the competition, which were then sold off at the end of each day.

A spokesperson for the school said: "Our pupils enthusiastically took up the challenge alongside their parents and staff, with cakes being judged at lunchtimes by a pleasantly overwhelmed judging panel of different teachers."

Each finalist received a certificate and prize during a celebration assembly on Friday when the winning baker was named as year one pupil Andrew Idos, 6, for his Comic Relief cake.

The week raised more than £710 for children in the UK and Africa.

Well done to the staff & children on raising so much for Comic Relief. If someone had told me beforehand then I could have made a donation and eaten some cake.
