Warsame 'Sammy' Warsame died after being involved with a fight on Saturday, March 4
A man has been arrested following the death of a Kingston man found unconscious on a train.
Warsame Warsame, known as Sammy, died on Monday, March 4, two days after being discovered on a train at Raynes Park station.
His cause of death is still yet to be determined, after a postmortem examination proved inconclusive.
British Transport Police (BTP) launched a murder investigation in the wake of Mr Warsame’s death, after reports he had been involved in a fight on a different train 45 minutes before he was found.
The investigation is to determine whether Mr Warsame, a music-loving rapper who went by the name DJ Instant, died of injuries sustained in the fight or of a pre-existing medical condition.
The 24-year-old was on regular dialysis ever since being bottled inside a Kingston nightclub in 2007.
The BTP confirmed a 24-year-old man from Wallington in Sutton had been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.
A spokeswoman said: “I can confirm that a 24-year-old man from Wallington, Sutton, was arrested on Saturday in connection with the incident and has been released on police bail until Monday, April 22.”
A funeral for Mr Warsame is yet to be arranged. His elder sister Deqa, 27, said his body had not been released to the family.
In accordance with Muslim tradition, the body should be buried as soon as possible after death.
