Children were praised last week at a celebration of success for Mitcham’s schools.

Organised by ten schools and two Mitcham community groups which makes up the ‘Mitcham Town Cluster’, the inaugural event saw pupils awarded with certificates and book prizes.

The top achievements included the Cluster Study Support Centre, a joint project across Mitcham schools, and the Shine Saturday school.

Merton Council’s cabinet member for education, Councillor Martin Whelton, said: "Mitcham Town Cluster has worked hard alongside its partners to ensure that the standard of education in Mitcham is continuously improving.

“With many new learning and support projects and activities in Mitcham schools, the town cluster as well as pupils and schools should be proud of their achievements and efforts over the past year.”

Mitcham Town Cluster’s development manager, Kristina Burton, said: "Mitcham schools work very hard to accommodate all their pupils, teachers and staff.

“By working together as a cluster, we can provide a higher standard of education and extra resources to make everyone's school experience in Mitcham really enjoyable.”
