Merton police's Graveney safer neighbourhood team invites volunteers to keep Mitcham tidy
1:15pm Monday 4th March 2013 in News By Omar Oakes
Police are teaming up with residents in Mitcham for a litter-picking blitz next weekend.
Graveney safer neighbourhood team will join residents in the Big Graveney Tidy Up, starting at 10am on Saturday, March 16, at North East Mitcham Community Hall in Woodland Way.
The team will be litter picking in Edenvale Park, Woodland Way, Streatham Road, The Bungalows, Ridge Road, Hill Road, Caithness Road, Park Avenue and Melrose Avenue.
If the event proves popular, further tidy ups will be arranged in other areas of the ward later in the year.
PC Angela Breen, from Graveney safer neighbourhood team, said: "This clean up will show that we care about the future of our local environment and that we are not prepared to live, work and play in an area that is blighted by rubbish.
"We hope that as many volunteers as possible come and join us on the day."
