Staff at Epsom, St Helier and Sutton hospitals are satisfied with the quality of patient care they are able to deliver, according to a new survey.

The survey, which is conducted to discover how NHS employees throughout England feel about their work and the organisations they work for, showed that staff at the three hospitals also believe that they are able to contribute towards improvements at work, that they work effectively as a team, and they do not feel pressurised to attend work when feeling ill.

Matthew Hopkins, the trust’s chief executive, said: "The NHS staff survey is an excellent barometer for what our staff think of working for our hospitals and the NHS.

"I am very pleased to see we are among the best in the country for our staff feeling satisfied with their quality of their work and with the level of patient care they are able to deliver.

"This is one of the surveys most important questions and it’s very important to do well against it.

"It is also really positive news to be one of the best hospitals nationally for our doctors, nurses, midwives and other staff feeling they are able to contribute to improvements at work.

"There is clear evidence which shows engaging staff in helping to shape and improve hospital services delivers better care for patients.

"Whilst we are of course pleased with the vast majority of the survey’s results, there are of course areas where we could improve, including ensuring immediate line managers give staff all the support they need."
