Borough commander joins Theo Paphitis for 170 mile charity cycle
7:00am Saturday 2nd March 2013 in News By Lauren May, Chief Reporter
Merton’s top cop and entrepreneur Theo Paphitis are joining forces to take on the Scottish Highlands in support of Comic Relief.
Detective Chief Superintendent Darren Williams will be joining the Dragon's Den star on a 170-mile 'Tour De Scotland' in a bid to raise £10,000 for Comic Relief.
The two-day challenge will see a team of seven cyclists climb more than 7,000 feet, the equivalent of climbing Ben Nevis and Snowden, through the Scottish Highlands and visit every Ryman store in Scotland.
The entrepreneur's stationery company Ryman, whose head offices are based in Wimbledon, has supported Comic Relief for more than four years.
Mr Williams will be taking time from his annual leave allowance to complete the challenge.
