Shavani Seth will star in E4 comedy Youngers next month
A Mitcham actress, set to appear in a new TV comedy, has her sights on the big time.
Shavani Seth, 23, from Pollards Hill, Mitcham, started acting at the age of 15 at the Oval House Theatre in Lambeth and has already made appearances in BBC hospital drama Casualty and a BBC3 drama, My Murder.
Next month she will appear as Davina in the new E4 comedy series Youngers, which follows three students fresh out of their GCSEs as they embark on a career in music.
She said: "I started at the local youth theatre and doing drama classes and from there I started to be noticed by other people and they wanted me to be their shows.
"I was doing a lot of theatre work for about three to four years.
"Eventually I got an agent and started to get film and TV work.
"I think [Youngers] shows that it’s not all plain sailing and it’s not like The X Factor.
"You can see people working really hard and you know there are a lot of people in Merton trying to make it and we show it is not all plain sailing and you have to put the work in."
The ambitious actress has big plans for her acting career which she plans to take to Los Angeles with hopes of having her name known across the world.
She said: "I just want to improve on myself as an actress and develop my skills and I want to go to LA and say here I am.
"It’s not just going to be the UK."
Youngers begins on March 20.
