Theatre production help children 'arrive alive'
A theatre production designed to help children "arrive alive" arrived in Wimbledon this week.
Commissioned by Merton Transport, the Polka Theatre will be touring two interactive performances entitled arrive alive and around the corner in schools across the borough to promote road safety.
Janna Feldman, head of creative learning at Polka Theatre, said: "We have been encouraged by the overwhelmingly positive impact the performance has had on both pupils and teachers across the borough of Merton.
"The performances stress the importance of taking responsibility for oneself when it comes to safety on the roads and is fun and engaging.
"We hope to continue to raise awareness in a creative and relevant way and are looking forward to reaching school children in other London boroughs."
Figures published by the Department for Transport show road accidents accounted for around 35 per cent of all childhood deaths in 2010.
The performance will be touring schools between February 25 and March 22.
