Mitcham market for lovers

Love was in the air in this week as a Valentines Market arrived in Mitcham for one day only.

The romantic market was organised by One Mitcham and transformed Mitcham town centre into a heavenly haven of hearts, flowers and cupcakes, running into evening with dancers and dozens of stalls to entertain visitors.  

The event was the first in a series of events designed to revitalise the town centre as part of the Rediscover Mitcham project – a multi million pound project to improve Mitcham town centre - funded by the Mayor’s Outer London Fund and Merton Council. 

One Mitcham is a new community initiative made up of members from Merton Council’s Future Merton team, Studio Weave architects, London Sustainability Exchange and local community champions.

Further events to take place include a spring clean, food festival and wintertime event to help improve how people visit, shop and experience Mitcham.
