A Wimbledon teen has taken one step closer to becoming a ball boy in the Barclays ATP World Tour Tennis finals.

Thomas Morris, a student at Wimbledon College, was among 200 children who took part in the regional selection trial at Sutton Tennis Academy recently where he was selected as one of the top kids in the area.

The 15 year old will now go up against 100 other kids in the national selection finals in April for a chance to make it into the final squad of 30.

He said: "Obviously it's extremely tough but I'm really pleased to have made it through to the final 100 kids in the UK.

"I think the coaches are looking for people that can listen and learn and not just think they're good enough already.

"However you need good ball skills, coordination, the ability to concentrate, work as a team player and not be distracted by the players."

Thomas already gives up his time to work as a volunteer at the All England Tennis Club as a community tennis coach.
