Wimbledon’s MP was grilled by campaigners last week about improving transport access for the disabled.

Stephen Hammond, also a transport minister, joined members of the Merton branch of the Multiple Sclerosis Society for their monthly buffet lunch at All Saints Day Centre, South Wimbledon, on January 26.

The branch chairman, Alice Thacker, said: “We enjoyed the opportunity to exchange views on a wide variety of topics – from an E.U. referendum to Blue Badge parking cheats.

“As adults with disabilities and carers, we were able to draw on personal experience to present Mr Hammond with practical suggestions for improving the accessibility of public transport.”

It is the society's 60th anniversary this year and the Merton branch, with about 100 members, meets on the fourth Saturday of every month.
