It is a traditional Christmas scene that has been played out across primary schools for generations.
And it was no different for children at Haslemere Primary School who this week staged their annual nativity along with dozens of others in Merton.
Charlotte Groom, head teacher, said: "They have only been rehearsing for just over a week, so they did very well in such a short time.
"Both performances on the day, the morning and the afternoon shows, went very well with the children singing and dancing their hearts out.
"We are all very proud of them!"
