A founder of the Wimbledon Common Nature Club has been nominated for a Merton Civic Award for her work inspiring young nature-lovers.
Auriel Glanville, 71, founded the club 10 years ago and organises a programme of activities every month for children aged six to 14-years-old.
She said: "It is very nice to be nominated and I’m pleased people are supportive of our work.
"I set up the club with the aim of getting children involved with nature, and hope they will develop a lifelong interest in the environment.
"We have number of fun activities throughout year, and particular highlights include pond dipping, shelter building and the fungi foray."
Ms Glanville has been nominated for the Community award for her dedication to the borough.
Ms Glanville has also worked as the Merton co-ordinator for Friends of the Earth for the past 20 years, raising awareness for environmental concerns regarding climate change.
Ms Glanville, of Florence Road, Wimbledon works part-time in a Wimbledon nursery and runs the nature club along with her friend Alison Pelikan.
