The chairman of trustees at Deen City Farm has been nominated for a Merton Civic Award for her passion in promoting and developing the charity.

Liz Daughters has led a number of fundraising projects over the years since she got involved in the community farm and has actively encouraged the recruitment of members of the public including apprentices.

The mother-of-two is semi-retired and has been a trustee since 2009 before going for the top role where she has the difficult task of looking after the governance of the farm as well as fundraising tirelessly.

Ms Daughters, 56, has fond memories of taking her two children, now in their twenties, to visit the farm when they were younger.

She was nominated in the community and volunteer categories by Philip Henson, who said Ms Daughters is full of energy and enthusiasm for the farm, and she dedicates a lot of her personal time planning for and attending trustee meetings, meeting with staff and visiting the farm in Colliers Wood.

He said she enjoys engaging with visitors, local businesses, fellow trustees, and the community and is an asset to the farm and the local community.

Ms Daughters, who carries out the role voluntarily, said: "I have always been a supporter of the farm.

"It was nice to be nominated.

"I have always been very community minded and I am committed to Merton."
