TIS the season to be jolly, but ‘tis also the season of parties and to look your best in chilly conditions.
So with the help of Intu Bromley and their personal Stylist, Juliet Wyatt, we have got the low-down on how to give your wardrobe some sparkle this Christmas – and there’s not a reindeer jumper in sight*.
For women
Laura is wearing biker jacket (French Connection, £95), dress (French Connection, £160), black shoe boots (New Look, £29.99), black sequin bag (New Look, £19.99)
Stella McCartney-style lace-accented trousers are a good bet and they’re everywhere now. Team them with a biker jacket and dress it up with killer heels or down with edgy boots.
In terms of dresses, ditch the backless and dare the bare a tiny peek of midriff. Just a peek, mind.
Match maxi dresses, with a shin hemline, with your favourite jumper or a slip dress with an oversized coat or long chunky knitwear, but give it some zip with some sparkly jewellery. It’s 90s grunge, but a bit smarter.
Accessorise with a Matthew Williamson-style gentlemen’s watch and a stack of friendship bracelets.
Jean Paul Gaultier-style patterned jeans are all the rage and, again, you can pick them up all over.
For Men
Jim is wearing skinny jeans (Superdry, £54.99), jumper (Superdry, £74.99), leather jacket (Superdry, £224.99), cable snood (New Look, £12.99)
Juliet said: “It depends on where you are going but it is basically the smart formal or cocktail party idea.”
Match up a tuxedo jacket with a button-up shirt and a striped tie or, if you have the cojones, go punky with tartan trousers, a polka dot shirt and a blazer.
Basically, go nuts, it’s Christmas.
*It may not be on trend, but knock yourself out, wear one anyway.
If you think you can benefit from an expert eye, Juliet’s services are free to use and she’s paid by the centre so she won’t push you to buy something that doesn’t suit you. Get in touch with her on 07795668437.
