A controversial sculptor, whose work faces Charing Cross station, will headline a Clapham arts venue’s LGBT+ microfestival.

Maggi Hambling will give an insight into her most famous work A Conversation with Oscar when she appears at Omnibus on February 17.

The sculpture features Oscar Wilde’s bronze head and hand rising from a green granite sarcophagus, which also serves as a bench so passersby can sit and chat with the author.

Hambling, a former artist in residence at the National Gallery, will share her series of Oscar Wilde paintings, drawings and sculptures in a question and answer session.

The evening brings to a close a series of events promoting equal LGBT+ rights and diversity.

Gareth Armstrong’s Wile Without the Boy, on February 3, is a dramatisation of Wilde’s De Profundis letter to sent from prison to his lover Lord Alfred Douglas.

Belfast Boy, on February 6, is the story of Martin Hall who fled the troubles in Belfast at the same time as his brothers fall in and out with the law, his mother has her heart broken and his sexuality gets him in trouble.

Writer and author David Dandridge will host a series of short films and a question and answer session on February 6.
