The release of the brand new true-crime podcast we’ve all been waiting for is just around the corner, as S-Town prepares to make its debut on March 28.

We’re poised, we’re subscribed, we’re ready to continually refresh our podcast feed… and here’s why.

1. All the episodes will be available from the get go.

There’ll be no agonising seven-day wait for the next episode of S-Town, as all seven chapters of the podcast will drop on the premiere date. Listeners can gloriously binge-listen the entire series at once – what more could you want?

2. The preview sounds absolutely delicious.

Two weeks ago, the Serial Productions team released a teaser which featured host Brian Reed describing the maddening difficulty in fixing an antique clock. The system of cogs, levers and pulleys can be a complex one, with clock restorers relying on “witness marks” – dents, holes and impressions – to learn about the clock’s history.

A juicy metaphor for murder, if ever we’ve heard one.

It turns out Brian has been approached by antique clock restorer John, who wants him to investigate the son of a wealthy family who has allegedly been bragging that he got away with murder.

Of course, as is with any murder mystery, things aren’t necessarily as they first seem.

3. Because Serial.

If Serial – the award-winning series that captivated the globe – is anything to go by, we’re in for a treat with S-Town.

The first series followed the murky story of the real-life murder of a teenage girl in Woodlawn, Maryland. The debut earned Serial the title of fastest podcast ever to reach 5 million downloads on Apple’s iTunes store and was the topic of many conversations.

The highly anticipated second series focused on the story of Bowe Bergdahl, a US soldier who was captured by the Taliban after he left his outpost in Afghanistan, and held for nearly five years.

Despite being met with some scepticism, the second series racked up a whopping 50 million downloads – that’s more than the first when it ended its run.

If anyone knows how to capture an audience and deliver a compelling story like no other – it’s these guys.

4. And there’s more to come!
