Dizzee Rascal, Stormzy and Wretch 32 are leading the field at the Urban Music Awards, with four nominations each.
Grime star Dizzee is up for best album for Raskit, best music video for Space, best male act and artist of the year at the ceremony in November.
Stormzy has nods for best music video (Big For Your Boots), artist of the year, best grime and best album for Gang Signs And Prayer.
Wretch 32 is a contender for best hip hop and best male, while his single Whistle (featuring Donae’o & Kojo Funds) and album Growing Over Life are also in the running for prizes.
Ed Sheeran, Zayn, Rita Ora and Stormzy are among those competing for the coveted artist gong at the awards, which give music fans the chance to nominate and vote for their favourite acts.
Ora and Zayn are also shortlisted in the best international act category, where hip hop heavyweight Jay Z has a nod.
Jay Z said: “The Urban Music Awards was the first awards ceremony that said, hey you, the music fans, you tell us what is popular, not some academy of judges.”
The awards will take place in London on November 30.
Voting starts online at www.urbanmusicawards.net/voting on October 25.
