Susanna Reid says working with her stand-in Good Morning Britain co-host Piers Morgan was like going “through a tornado”.

The star said Piers, who temporarily replaced Ben Shephard on the ITV show, brought “a whole new energy” to the show.

She told Loose Women: “It’s fantastic working with him but he’s a force of nature. It’s like sitting next to a mini tornado and I think whenever anyone gets interviewed by him, they feel like they’ve been through a tornado. You should see the looks on guests’ faces after they’ve been interviewed by Piers. They’re like ‘what just happened?’.

“It’s a real privilege working with him, though. He’s been there, done it. It’s incredible the kind of career he’s had. It’s fantastic and he brings a whole new energy to the programme and I am very much looking forward to working with him again tomorrow, I have the day off on Friday and then Ben is back on Monday. It’s been brilliant.”

Not everyone was so impressed with Piers:

Piers, the newspaper editor turned television host, left US network CNN last year after his show was cancelled following plummeting ratings.

He joined the channel more than four years ago when he took over the prime-time slot from veteran host Larry King to host Piers Morgan Tonight, later renamed Piers Morgan Live.

The show launched in January 2011, but initial audiences of two million fell to around 270,000 and it was axed.
