British pop rock legends The Hollies played New Wimbledon Theatre last night and have lost nothing of their enormous talent.

What's On's Ali Masud gives you the low-down on what you need to know...

  • They played for the  best part of two hours. Two hours!  At their age! All killer hits from pop to rock to boogie to psychedelic indo-rock. Oh yes. Tony Hicks! Wow!
  • You know all their songs. Of the top of my head, He ain’t heavy, he’s my brother, the air that I breathe,  Bus Stop, Carrie Anne, Jennifer Eccles, Stay, I’m Alive, Here I go again…
  • They are used to it. Bobby Elliott and Tony Hicks have been touring together in the Hollies for over 50 years. That’s right, every year for over 50 years. They make the Rolling Stones workshy fops in comparison.
  • Even without Graham Nash and Alan Clarke, the three-part harmonies remain intact: So thank you, Peter Howarth and Steve Lauri, who have both been the band for 12 years .
  • Like I said, Tony Hicks. Wow. What was that guitar-sitar instrument he played on The Baby?
  • You won’t get the chance to see any other Rock’n’Roll Hall of Famers this up close and personal for less than a £100.
  • Keys man Ian Parker sported a blonde Mohican – what is he like! – but also plays a mean accordion. Oh yes. The band’s jaunty rejig of Stop! Stop! Stop!  A highlight.
  • Their 2012 live album,  We got the  Tunes , was named after Tony Hicks bumped into Liam Gallagher in Waitrose in Henley. Who said ‘love the band!  You got the tunes!’
