A lauded classical pianist who dazzles audiences with his one-handed playing is heading to Croydon next month.

Nicholas McCarthy, who was the first piano player to graduate from the Royal College of Music with one hand in its prestigious 130-year history, will play a lunchtime recital at Fairfield Halls on Tuesday, August 11.

Born in 1989 without a right hand, he began to play piano at the late aged 14 and is now the youngest sole left-handed concert pianist in the world.

He has performed all over the world and won numerous awards and in Croydon he will perform works by Scriabin, Liszt, Gershwin and Rachmaninov.

Tickets cost £5 or £4.50 concessions. Call 020 8688 9291 or go to Fairfield.co.uk
