Aloe Blacc has gone straight in at number one in the UK singles chart.

His song, The Man, knocked Australian boy band 5 Seconds Of Summer off the top spot, relegating them into 10th place with their tune She Looks So Perfect.

American soul singer Aloe, whose previous single I Need A Dollar was one of the most played songs of 2011, performed his latest offering on the finale of The Voice.

Also appearing on the BBC show were in die rockers, the Kaiser Chiefs, who have seized the top spot in the albums chart.

They can now teach their detractors a lesson as Education, Education, Education And War debuted at number one.

Frontman Ricky Wilson was a mentor on the third series of the talent show with his act, Christina Marie, a runner-up after being beaten by Jermain Jackman.

Elsewhere in the singles chart, John Legend's All Of Me climbed from last week's number five to two while Duke Dumont's I Got U was at number four and My Love by Route 94 featuring Jess Glynne completed the top five.

Other new entries in the top 40 include John Martin's Anywhere For You at number seven while Paolo Nutini debuted at number 12 with Scream (Funk My Life Up).

Another new placing was that of house music pioneer Frankie Knuckes, who died suddenly last week.

His track Your Love, which has been reworked countless times by other musicians, entered the chart at number 29.

The albums chart sees The X Factor winner Sam Bailey's debut, The Power O f Love, knocked into second place by the Kaiser Chiefs and George Michael's Symphonica at number three.

In fourth position is another new entry in Out Among The Stars, a posthumous studio album by Johnny Cash, while John Legend's Love In The Future was at number five.

Christina Perri's Head Or Heart entered the charts in eight place, while Steel Panther's All You Can Eat was straight in at number 12.
