Real-life conversations about love and sex make up the script of a new National Theatre production beamed live to cinemas around Europe.

If you missed the live broadcast, why not catch a replay from the comfort of Leatherhead Theatre in January?

Lloyd Newson, artistic director of internationally-renowned DV8 Physical Theatre, conceived and directed John after conducting candid interviews with 50 men.

One of those men was John, whose story of years of crime, drug use and a struggle for survival led him on a search where his life converged with others in an unexpected place.

Verbatim is a type of theatre that generates the script from honest conversations and creates poignant performances that combine movement with the spoken word.

The play was described by the Daily Telegraph as ‘bold, involving and utterly unique,’ and by the Evening Standard as ‘powerfully absorbing’.

DV8 has won over 50 national and international awards for its physically integrated dance work. The play is certificate 18 and contains adult themes, strong language and nudity.
