Free live music performed by artists from across south London, alongside a touch of Shakespeare and poetry readings, will be staged today.

Croydon Council is laying on the entertainment at Wandle Park this afternoon to celebrate the completion of the restoration of the park.

Music from Freedom of Expression, a collective of musicians from the area, readings from Poets Anonymous and a sneak preview performance by Coda of their upcoming production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

There will also be storytelling in a yurt, sunflower planting and face painting in the community garden, a teddy bear hunt and a barbecue alongside the new Wandle Park Cafe.
