For a night of jokes and japes, all for a good cause, head to The Albert in Norbiton next week.
Comics including Martin Wyatt, Comedy Cafe new act winner 2012, and quirky stand-up Madge Hooks will tickle ribs and split sides in aid of Comic Relief.
Edinburgh festival and national tour veteran Adam Bloom headlines the night.
Organiser Amy-Jane Cahalane says the comedy on offer could appeal to a wider audience than just Albert regulars.
Cahalane says: “We’re trying different things and comedy was an idea I had a while ago.
“I realised it was going to be Red Nose Day and thought it would be good to try it.
“I was organising it in my spare time. I love comedy so for me this is one I really wanted to try.
“All the ticket money that we make will go to Comic Relief.
“We’re doing it as low-cost as possible to raise as much for charity as possible.”
The pub has borrowed a PA system for the night to keep costs down.
Robin Boot, from Surbiton, is one of the performers taking the stage next Friday. He describes his act as “the musical meanderings of a messed-up mind”.
He says: “It’s going to be a good night whatever – we’re expecting a full house, with really top-quality comedians.
“Comic Relief is my first solo charity stuff.”
