It's happened again - AFC Wimbledon have been drawn to play MK Dons in a cup competition for the second time in less than two years.

The Dons have been drawn to play away at Stadium: mk, in Milton Keynes, in the first round of the Capital One cup.

The draw, made this morning, was for fixtures to be played on the week commencing August 11.

First team coach Simon Bassey said: "It is what it is. We enter a competition to do our best in it and personal feelings don't come into it.

"It's one for the media to get excited about, but one for the club and the fans to get upset about.

"It is the worst draw we could have hoped for and I'd put money on the fact that 99 per cent of Dons fans will be disappointed with it."

It comes after the two sides were drawn to play each other in the FA Cup 2nd round in December 2012, when Milton Keynes won 2-1.

That game was obviously a high profile affair and televised on ITV, with many Dons fans boycotting the game in protest at the relocating of Wimbledon FC to Milton Keynes in 2003.

It also came not long after the Wimbledon Guardian had launched the Drop the Dons campaign, which calls on Milton Keynes to drop the Dons nickname out of respect for AFC Wimbledon.

AFC Wimbledon, which adopted the Dons nickname, was created in 2002 after fans refused to support Wimbledon FC's impending move to Buckinghamshire.
